Finally, the men's pavilion has a ramp that will allow wheelchair users and anyone else who is mobility compromised, including families with strollers and prams and seniors, to seek shelter from the rain or the sun when needed. The space is now inclusive for everyone, thanks to lobbying efforts over two years by members of DASSP (Disabled Allies of Sam Smith Park). This group's previous lobbying work includes persuading the City to lower interpretive signage and to replace the floor of the observation deck with a more suitably sized grill so that small wheels will not get stuck. Great work by this group and by the City as we all continue to learn the utmost importance of recognizing and correcting accessibility barriers!
